Five beaches between Viana and Caminha worth knowing

The coast from Viana do Castelo to Caminha (Galician border) has 30 km of Atlantic beaches, dunes, and protected dune zones. A personal selection:

**Praia do Cabedelo (Viana)** - 6 km from the Villa. Our beach. Long sand, surf waves, beachfront seafood. 12 min by car.

**Praia de Carreço** - 8 km. Wilder, with low cliffs and rocky stretches. Good for walking.

**Praia de Afife** - 12 km. Considered one of Portugal's best beaches. White sand, clean water, the Forte do Cão as a backdrop.

**Praia de Moledo** - 25 km, near Caminha. Vast sand, with Galicia's Santa Trega mountain in the distance. Wind almost guaranteed (good for kitesurfing).

**Praia da Foz do Minho (Caminha)** - where the Minho river meets the Atlantic. Migratory birds; on the other bank, Spain so close you can cross by boat.
